to find out or not?

***Just wanted to give an update! Thanks for all of your thoughts and votes. Turns out, we did not find out the sex of our baby--though I am leaning "boy" based on a small thing our ultrasound girl said. Also to be noted--Luke, who has said he wants a sister, now thinks we are having a boy too. Not sure why, but it's what he's saying at this point. We're halfway through---20 more weeks (or so) to meet our new precious baby!

Okay, so I thought Chad and I had this thing figured out (and I really think we still do), but it came up in conversation the other night, that at our upcoming ultasound on Monday, we may still be up in the air on finding out the sex of our baby. I'll spare you all of the details on how this went down, but we were NOT going to find out, and now we might. Might. Maybe. Not sure.

Just to give you our history. . .we did NOT find out with Luke and it was awesome! That amazing moment of hearing the words, "It's a BOY" (or girl) after waiting a long 9.5 months is incredible! Even though everyone was telling us we were having a boy, and I believed them, it was just amazing. So, with #2, we weren't going to find out again. However, much like our debate right now, we changed our mind last minute and we DID find out with Charlie. I must say, that was incredible too! I loved every minute of picking out his name and talking to him and praying for him knowing he was a boy!

Here we are, for probably our last time (I only say probably, because if I really tell my pregnant brain this is our last baby, then I might get crazy emotional--even though it really, probably is . . .you get the point) and we are in question once again! What to do?

So I'm putting up a poll, for my 10 readers. It's on the side of our blog (in case you only read in Google Reader--go to our site). If you were us, what would you do? I want to hear good solid reasons for your vote!!! Help!!!!!

***And just a side note, of the 11 people I know that are coming to mind, who are all pregnant, 3 will not find out, 3 will find out and 5 already found out and are having boys! So sorry, if I missed any friends who are having girls!!

Are you telling me that whatever option wins on the poll - y'all will go with the majority?

FIND OUT! It is a great break in the middle of the pregnancy, and then if it is a girl, you can PINK it out!

We're finding out, but I'm a super-big planner and like to have everything ready before the baby gets here. Plus, we'd have some big furniture decisions to make depending on what gender this baby is. Plus, I HATE surprises, especially when I know I'm going to be surprised. Too much pressure for me.

So my vote is find out, but that's only based on my own experience and personality!

I would definitely find out. Because if I was having a girl after 2 boys, I would definitely be going crazy with pink! haha

I read your blog! LOL

I think you know where I stand. I would not find out. I didn't for any of them and it was amazing every time! Like you with Luke, I totally anticipated that "It's a BOY" (or girl…my Lindley!) moment. Plus, for me, I didn't want to find out after having my first 2 boys because I wouldn't want people to act disappointed that I was having a 3rd boy…but if he was announced at birth, no one would seem let down that it was another boy…does that make sense?!?!

Have the doctor seal it in an envelope.

Give said envelope to your sister.

Sister will throw a revealment party for family and friends so it will be exciting/a surprise/fun for everybody at once!

I know, I rock.

okay, i haven't voted, but aunt mary's idea sounds pretty AWESOME!!! sounds like a fun way to find out. :)

and i didn't want to vote b/c the poll said "should" we find out, and really there is no should about it. i'm just overanalyzing, but didn't want you to feel like one was right and the other wasn't. i know, i'm a weirdo. love y'all lots and can't wait to meet baby J. when he/she gets here!!!

i love to find out. but i do enjoy taking care of a patient who has waited and not found out. but the delivery is exciting enough on its own without that extra surprise. find out now.

I say DON'T find out. We didn't with our 3 and I loved it. I love finding out at the and I love hearing what people had when they didn't find out. Depends also on if you will be disapointed if it isn't a girl. I figure once you have the baby in your arms you don't care if it is a boy or a girl :)
