Oh the Wonderful Things Mr. Luke Can Do. . .

he can sound like a cow, he can go moo-moo! (Okay, sorry. It's a book--I'm sure most of you reading this know that. We read it A LOT when we house sat for my parents earlier this week).
Our little angel Luke officially turned 20 months old this week and has become what everyone warned would eventually happened. . .a TODDLER!! I really don't know how it happened, but it was overnight. He went to bed an angel and the next day he woke up and began throwing food, laughing when we say "No", running away from us, etc. You name it, he's doing it!!

However, even at the beginning of this new stage for us, our little Luke is really still an angel! Here's what he's up to. . .

--Luke has quickly learned what "hot" means thanks to our hot summers. Everytime we get in the car, he says "hot!" BUT--he also has learned that ice cream is cold and loves to tell us it's "cold" when he eats it. He takes after his daddy too--he loves it so much that he eats it too fast and gets a brain freeze!

--He's is very helpful (when he's not pre-occupied with what he wants to do) and points out trash on the floor. He will pick it up and take it to the cabinet with the trash can in it to throw it away. He also does this with the mulch outside. He likes to pick up a piece and take it to our recycling bin on the side of our house. It's great entertainment for him when I'm visiting with a neighbor or pulling weeds!

--Luke still loves to read and likes to go pick out books and then walks backwards to us so he can plop right down in our laps! His current favorites are My World, by Margaret Wise Brown, A Mud Pie for Mother, Llama Llama Red Pajama and I Wish I Were a Pilot.

--He's gaining words like crazy! Lots of the words still don't sound quite like we hear them, but he knows what he's talking about. For example, sprinkler is "Dye-co." It sounds like Geico, but with a "d." His word for iron, is "ahh no" which is exactly what I think when I have to iron!! He finally knows how to say hi and love you, which sounds like "wuv oo." It's all precious to us!

--Luke is also learning his letters and colors. He knows what they all are and can even say some of them. He loves to point out letters and colors he knows on signs, etc.

Luke at 20 months old with his latest hair cut!! It's SO short!

I love it when Luke knows he shouldn't do something and does it anyway. I'm still laughing about the sugar packs we told him not to throw and he would pick one up look at us and then toss it back over his head and then giggle. He's learning so much and I love it when he points a letter or color when reading. He'll be reading to us before long. He is certainly entertaining his grandparents, that's for sure.

We love you ALL
