The excitement has been building for weeks now! And the dread. The dread. The nerves. The fear of failure. The fear of the unknown. . .And then finally, last night arrived!
Swimmers, take your mark!
And after the weeks of waffling between not wanting to go to practice before every practice, to loving every practice after every practice, and then being determined to never go to a swim meet . . .our little swimmer was SO brave and had the time of his life at his very first meet!
Luke swam the individual freestyle and backstroke and he swam the backstroke in a team medley. His favorite stroke is the backstroke and he might have just earned the name Backstroke Lukey! With a little bit of practice on staying straight in the lanes, he could own this stroke! ;)
Luke was terrified of coming in last. We've been telling him over and over that it doesn't matter to us and it doesn't matter at all if he does. What's important is doing his best and doing his best for the Lord. Colossians 3:23 says, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." We couldn't love him less or be disappointed in him! And wow! I can't express how nervous he was, even shedding tears the day of--and then to witness how brave he was, and the excitement of experiencing the team and individual effort. . .Just wow! We're so proud of our little swimmer and completely sold on the benefits of swim team and what it is teaching Luke already!
Way to go Luke, our awesome Bluefin!

We are so proud of Luke and his performance at the swim meet. He did a great job and he certainly loves to practice his strokes at Mimi and Grandpa's house. I know with each meet he will improve but most important that he enjoys what he is doing and doing the best he can. Mimi
