a friend in the dark | Day 6

When talking about light vs. dark, I'd venture to say that 75% of the time, we speak positively about light. Of course I'm throwing that number out there very arbitrarily, unlike my husband, who spouts out statistics and has some reasonable idea that his numbers are correct.

I really don't know that my statistic is accurate, but when I think about how we use the word, light, it's often used in a positive context. I think the same is true about the word, dark. Scary stories are told in the dark, about the dark. Fear and evil and tough times are associated with dark. Dark gets a bad rap, and maybe, rightly so.

But when I read this quote. . .

 the dark isn't so bleak.

I'm writing for 31 days here, during the month of October, all about light. As I started this process, I fully expected I'd see light in a different way. However, I didn't know that I'd ever choose dark over light when given the opportunity. But these words. . .they highlight friendship to me.

Today, I'm thankful for my dear friends--for those who have walked with me in the dark AND make the light that much more wonderful--you are blessings to me!
