a stack of books. . .

“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” --C.S. Lewis

I love starting out the new year with a fresh book list! Every year for the past several, I've compiled a stack of books that I want to tackle in upcoming year. A couple of times I've tried the read-a-book-a-month method, and prior to children, I accomplished that list. But it seems now, there's so much to be done, or so much I just don't want to do after children are in bed, that either way, reading a book a month has been a struggle. But now that we've started cutting out more and more shows (hooray for Downton Abbey starting back though---no reading was done last night), I'm hoping to read more and more!

Here are some of the books I hope to fall into this year. . .

Bonus for me that we just returned from a trip to the Grand Canyon (more on that later) and the flight out there was 4 hours, plus the return, plus a late night and BAM, I've tackled Insurgent and checked one off my list! If you enjoy YA books, then you should check out Veronica Roth's trilogy that begins with Divergent. Movie comes out this spring. Cannot wait!

I really can't believe I haven't read Love Does yet---I've had it for months now and know it will be awesome and inspiring! Bread and Wine comes recommended via the blog world, A Kitchen House is a recommendation by a friend, The Book Thief is a movie out now, but a NY Times bestseller and sounds intriguing, Freefall to Fly, also learned about from the bloggy world, but a memoir from a Christian perspective and related to Down syndrome and finally Khaled Hosseini's And the Mountains Echoed--I loved and cried over The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, so I'm sure this will not disappoint either!

What are you reading? What else should I add to my list?

I'm reading _Bread & Wine_ right now, and loving it! That girl thinks about food the same way I do! You should also check out her husband's "A New Liturgy" project (google it; it's easy to find). I just finished listening to the Creation liturgy while curled up in my bathroom next to the fire. Beautiful!
