Today I . . .

Today I . . .
washed, folded and actually put away the kiddos clothes.

Today I . . .
also washed, folded and did not put away Chad's or my clothes.

Today I . . .
found a double stroller that will fit in my SUV and I was giddy, thanking my friend who helped me test fit it in my said SUV!

Today I . . .
enjoyed cooing back and forth with baby Way (how long do I get to call him baby Way? Forever? Thanks!).

Today I . . .
sang Hurry Hurry Drive the Firetruck with Miles 14, 000 times! And loved it!

Today I . . .
treated myself to a salted, caramel Mocha, which was actually a free treat from Starbucks since they didn't have the salt the last time I tried to order one!

Today I . . .
lit our Jack o lanterns with our littles, who were so excited about the cool faces they chose to have Daddy carve, not to mention the bat wing and spider additions they made!

Today I . . .
did NOT get to early vote because I showed up at 7:02 and was turned away.

Today I . . .
got a wonderful massage from my honey and it was a perfect way to end the day! Good night!

a pumpkin we will find. . .

A pumpkin we will find, a pumpkin we will find, off to the pumpkin patch, for a pumpkin we will find!

Actually, we weren't searching for pumpkins at this pumpkin patch this year, as we already found ours prior to this trip. However, this trip has been a tradition for the past several years and we didn't want to miss it! Baby Way joined us for his first trip, and I, his Mommy, am to blame for getting our little bundle his first sun-burn. Poor baby! He wasn't bothered at all and it may just have been a little color. Heaven knows our little family must watch out for sun (but in late October??) with our fair skin!

Sweet Baby Way slept a bit on our trip, but our others were in full force!

They combed the pumpkin patch (and this is how it is everyday--big brother leads and little brother follows!)

and even posed for a pic for Mommy!

After multiple hayrides and tackling the corn maze, it was time to head home, but not before a sweet soul offered to take a family pic! Thank you, kind lady! And, thank you Cedar Hill Farms--our fun tradition continued!

FYI Friday--faith on Pinterest

Hooray for me getting an FYI Friday done on gasp, a Friday!! Here are a few things I've pinned on Pinterest having to do with my faith. I'm thankful for these finds and uplifting reminders throughout my days of the Lord's never-ending love! Enjoy! (After publishing this, I realized that if you click on the picture it takes you to my Pinterest page.I was hoping it would take you directly to each site. I'm not all tech savvy. However, under and to the side of each pic, you see the link to the direct site. Check them out if you like them!)

I love this little Etsy find. . .I really like how each rule is backed up with Scripture. . .

First of all, Ann Voskamp is amazing. What a woman of the Lord! Her blog is really encouraging as well. She is the author of One Thousand Gifts (I think my all time favorite book). These are sandwich wrappers she created! I love this idea for lunches---or finding my own verses and doing this for my current little reader!

And, finally, read this and believe it!!! So true!!

right now

Right now I am . . .

listening. . . to the pouring rain beat down on our back porch
feeling. . . thankful to the Lord for giving us good news at Baby Way's cardiologist appointment and closing the holes in his heart

wondering. . . when mosquito season is going to end (they keep finding their way in our home and eating little  Charlie and hubby alive)
planning . . . on making these yummy fall treats with my littles tomorrow

smelling. . .the lingering scent of beef stew that a sweet friend made us for dinner
and now
listening . . .to my little toddler scream out for his Mommy in the middle of his sleep---better run for now!

Happy Birthday Lukey!

Birthday time again!! This time it's our biggest baby and he turned 7 years old! Happy Birthday Lukey!! I think this was the birthday Luke was the most excited about so far. Not sure why, but he's been counting down the days until his birthday this past week for I don't know how long--at least 15 weeks out. Super pumped!

We started the day with birthday donuts, yum, yum!! Sadly, this was my first picture of him on his birthday morning. No more pics in jammies in his room. Now that he and Charlie share a room, they wake up, go to the bathroom, get dressed and hang in their room until 7. Then they come out and play and wait for Mommy and Daddy to get breakfast and lunches ready. So, before I even saw him, it was after 7am. He's growing up so fast! But, nonetheless, we got a birthday morning pic!

And, off to school he went! That night we let him choose where he wanted to have dinner with our family. He chose Corky's--yum, yum again! So our family of 6 met Mimi, Grandpa, Aunt Mary and Uncle Kevin there for a birthday meal!
 (check out my sister's face--what a goofball!)

He had a super day! All smiles! He then  had a small party this weekend to continue the fun. He's all about Mario, as in Mario Kart. When we moved this summer, we discovered a box tucked away in our old attic--turns out it was our GameCube we hadn't sold. Chad and I thought it would be fun to pull out and try, and it was! However, we had no idea how quickly it would become an obsession for the boys. We've definitely had to put limits on it but L & C still talk about it non-stop. Soooo, Luke was determined to have a Mario Kart party. Chad is the creative game man, so he came up with some competitive games to play outside (we didn't play the actual Mario Kart game) and we were so thankful it didn't rain! One thing I love about Lukey is how he is an awesome encourager! He gets so excited for people and encourages them along. Just look at these photos of him cheering when his friends made a basket. . .

Our precious Lukey! What a joy you have been since you made us a Mommy and Daddy 7 years ago! You never cease to amaze us! Oh how we love your smile, your sensitivity, your amazing imagination, your creativity, your thirst for knowledge, your loyalty and so much more! We just love YOU!!! We are so thankful for how the Lord has made you and for giving you to us. We pray that you will continue to grow in Him and that we will continue to have the biggest honor of raising and loving you as you do! Happy 7th birthday, Lukey! We love you with all of our hearts!

FYI Friday (on Saturday) favorite moments

Okay, so once again my FYI Friday post isn't on Friday, but hey, I'm only 1 day off this time. I was talking to a friend yesterday, and she said, "Our week has been so crazy, but I can't seem to put a finger on why!" Well, I must say, our week has been so crazy too, but I can put my finger on every bit of it. We had soccer and therapies and well-baby (kid) visits and flu shots and birthdays and birthday parties and a field trip. Just go, go go! It was a fun week, but I'm just glad it's over. Now we can breathe, and that's what we are doing today! Enjoying this awesome weather and going nowhere!

So here are my favorite moments of the week. . .dominated by our older kiddos this week. . .

Charlie's first soccer game. He's small in stature, but he's ALL heart! He was awesome out there! More on his soccer to come later. . .

My flash was having some big ol' problems on Luke's birthday night, but no worries, because I got this shot! Look at the pure excitement on his face after opening this present! Ecstatic! Love it!

I was able to go on Charlie's big field trip to the pumpkin patch this week. We had a great time! After getting home, I asked Charlie what his favorite part was, and his first response was the. . .bus ride!! Hahaha! Can't you tell by this face?? He loved it!! Loved being up so high (we were on a tour bus-type bus) and thought it was crazy that there were no seat belts! So cute! Thanks for having me join you, Chuckles!

Fun, crazy week!

FYI Friday (on Sunday) Down Syndrome Awareness Month

Last October I started a weekly post that I named FYI Fridays. I had a few FYI Fridays, then it morphed into an alliteration of "F" things on Fridays--favorite thing Fridays, fashion Friday, food Fridays, etc. It didn't last terribly long, but I thought I'd revisit the idea again. I had fun writing them.

And what led me to this again? Well, this month is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! As many of you know, Chad and I recently welcomed our 4th little boy, Way, into the world! Back in March, at our big ultrasound (really a few days later), we found out our baby had Down syndrome. We knew almost nothing about Down syndrome, so we quickly began educating ourselves. Chad started reading technical books, and I (blog lover that I am) began reading personal blogs and learning all that we could about Down syndrome before little Way was born. Now that I have a little knowledge and personal experience on the subject, I thought I'd share a few tidbits. . .I realize this is Sunday, and that I missed Friday, but let's just pretend. . .

1. Down syndrome is named after John Langdon Down, an English physician. Often people refer to Down syndrome as someone having Downs or Down's, but it is not plural or possessive. Also, when writing Down syndrome, syndrome is not capitalized because it is not a proper noun. *This is something I made the mistake of early on after learning about Way's diagnosis! I'm learning all kinds of things! However, when shortening the diagnosis in written form, DS is accepted for Down syndrome.

2. What exactly is Down syndrome? It is a genetic condition, in which a person has an extra copy (so a third copy) of chromosome 21.We've discovered that many of the medical professionals we've come in contact with, refer to Down syndrome as Trisomy 21. A person cannot "catch" it, nor is it curable. Down syndrome often comes with physical characteristics like low muscle tone, slightly slanted eyes, smaller stature and more, but because each person is uniquely created, not every person with Down syndrome has each characteristic.

3. And maybe the biggest thing I want to share, that I've learned, which makes complete sense to me, is that people with Down syndrome should always be referred to as people first. So, instead of saying, "Down syndrome child" you should say "a child with Down syndrome."

Obviously, there are lots more facts and tidbits about Down syndrome, but I wanted to just get a little out there for now. I know so many of you are learning along with us and we thank you for joining us!!

2 months!

First off, let me start by saying, "Welcome October!" so glad you are here! Even though you have brought us the stomach bug (which I don't really blame on you, October), I am always thrilled by the other smells, sights and happenings you bring---including our weather!!! How rockin' has that been?!!!So bring on the pumpkins, caramels, hay rides and candy corn! We are ready!

On another note, our little Way turned 2 months! He had his big appointment for his 2 month shots today---however, since he is one of our family members who has had the throw-ups, he didn't get his shots. I'm fine with that. Because Miles had his 2 year appt. today and he did get his shots and he told us in various (non-fun) ways all about it! So, having only one kiddo get shots was plenty. Baby Way weighed 10lbs. 7 oz and that's after he was sick all last night! So he's in the 25th% for weight and the 25th-50th% on the typical child chart! Hooray! He had a great exam--our pediatrician still didn't hear a heart murmur, but we will have Way's heart follow up with his cardiologist in a couple of weeks. Way's still not smiling, really. He's had a smile or two, here or there, but it's not a social smile. I. Cannot. Wait. Cannot wait to have his little smile respond to me, his Mommy! Ooooooh, how I love getting that first real smile, with all of my babies! It makes all that we do worth it, ya know? I love this little snuggle bug---here he is at 2 months old!
