kitchen before and afters

Wouldn't ya know that right after I post again after a longer break, our computer up and completely fries on me! I finally had a computer dr. check it out, and he concluded it was sick. So, it went home with him to the hospital and is back at 100% (praying it stays that way)! Hooray! Now I can upload, edit and post pics once again, along with everything else! Not sure that anyone is following anymore, but since I turn my blogs into blog books and love the creativity of it, I'm back at it anyway!

I mentioned in my last post, that I'd be back with before and after pics of our kitchen! Wish I had some better shots, but the befores were taken with my phone and I've yet to study the tricks of the trade on that. But here are a couple of before. . .

We (or rather our awesome contractor and crew) ripped out our linoleum floor, took out the original 1960's appliances, took off the counter tops and repainted and refinished the cabinets. We also busted out a wall between the kitchen and the den (you can see below) and added an island.

If you've followed my blog for a bit, then you know I love the idea of farm living! Since, my hubby and I know nothing of what it would take to live on a farm, I just dreamed up a farmhouse kitchen! Along the way, Chad kept saying, "I don't really know what a farmhouse kitchen is." I always answered with, "Ummm, it's just simple and white, and well, you'll see what I mean!" And now, I have my dream kitchen!! While the process of making so many decisions stressed me out, I can say, looking back at it, it was fun making these decisions with Chad. From choosing floor tiles, to paint colors to counter tops and more, we worked together really well and we love the finished outcome!

Our kitchen after the 3 week renovations. . .

We had some work done on other part of our house too, but this was the most major project! I didn't take a pic of this, but I also wanted a kitchen desk, which is where I am blogging from right now! Basically, if I turned around in my chair, I would have the view of the first "after pic" up above, with a big kitchen window and bench seats to my right.

Anyway, we feel super blessed to be in this house, closer to church and school and friends. I'm still amazed with how quickly our other house sold and we found this house 3 days after being on the market. The Lord is good! It has great space for our family, an awesome back porch, and an extra bedroom for family and friends who live out of town to come visit and stay with us!! Now if we can just figure out how to keep Lukey from waking Charlie in the mornings and how to get Charlie to let Luke go to sleep at night. . . . . .

all moved in!

Okay people, I'm back! After 3 weeks of living with my parents after moving out of our old house, we've officially moved into our new house! We cannot be more excited to be here! We still have some renovations going on, but our kitchen is complete! I will be back with before and after pics, but for now, I just wanted to give an update and let you know that we're still around (even though my blog header is still from April--I will change that for July)!

I tried to get a cute shot of my boys in moving boxes, but they were having SO much fun in them, that they were hardly interested in looking at me. This one is cute though! I had contemplated sending out We've Moved cards, and may still do so, but with We've Moved cards, a baby announcement coming up and Christmas all in one year, I thought my hubby might take away my credit card! So, that's still to be determined!

This photo was taken before we moved in, during our 3 weeks of initial renovating. The boys hadn't been inside to see everything yet. But this pic was this past Saturday afternoon, when we brought the boys to the almost completed house on moving day!! You think they are excited, or what?? Oh and Miles is naked because we had already packed up his clothes from my parents before dressing him that morning! :)

The older boys are off to the beach with their grandparents as of today. But, when they get back, we can't wait for our new adventures in our new house to really begin!
