Ode to the Oscars

Once again,  it's time for my fave night on tv! It's Oscar time!!! As some of you know, I've spent years and years, we're talking 20 something years watching the Oscars--which obviously means I've been watching since I was 5 ;) ! Anyway, I used to be able to sit and watch E! all day long on Oscar day/night! Now, with kiddos, I don't quite have the time to devote live, but don't worry, I tape all of the Red Carpet on E! and other stations and peruse through later! I will be glued to the tv once the kiddos are asleep (thank goodness for the DVR)! Can't wait! I just LOVE movies!!!

And, I have such an amazingly creative sister, (who also knows and has experienced my pure excitement of the Academy Awards for many years) who for the past several years has spent precious time creating an Ode to the Oscars for her Biffer--that's me. She is just too good not to share. . .Oh, and since she and I call the Oscars my "Christmas", she always makes her ode to the tune of a Christmas song. Here's Oscar Wonderland (sing Winter Wonderland in your head---she already called me today to debut her poem)!

Oscar Wonderland
Red carpet rolled, are you tuned in?
My Biff is pumped, to see who will win
A beautiful sight,
She’s giddy tonight
Watchin’ all the Oscar Wonderland

In the microwave, is the popcorn
For Best Actress – I think that I’m torn?
Viola or Glenn?
Or will Meryl win?
Watchin’ all the Oscar Wonderland

The next award up is best picture
Presented by none other than Tom Cruise
He’ll say “Are you married?”
Biff’ll say: “Um sure I am?”
But you are still my favorite
That’s the truth! (Seriously)

Later on, in the award show
The Ides of March and maybe Hugo
Will win a gold dude
Biff’s in a popcorn mood
Watchin’ all the Oscar Wonderland.

On the red carpet is George Clooney
And he is talking with Brad Pitt
In their dapper tuxes by Armani
Joan Rivers says “Oh Dahling what a fit!”

The 84th show, ain’t it thrilling?
My Biff is crazed, no time for chilling
She'll squeal and she’ll smile, like a hyper child
She’s watchin’ all the Oscar Wonderland.

Touch the remote if you want to lose a hand
She’s watchin’ all the Oscar Wonderland

hearts filled with love

A peak into my special Valentine's night. . .

First, watching my amazing husband be such a fantastic Dad, as he taught our boys a little about cooking a special meal. . .

Next, getting to enjoy my super delicious meal of steak, mahi-mahi, Chilean sea bass, some veggies, yummy bread and my new favorite drink, Sparkling Grapefruit Izze---made by my hearts!!

And finally, spending some precious time with my family (though Miles screamed through most of dinner) and soaking up a lesson on 1 Corinthians 13 led by my hubby. I am so very thankful for all of my little and big boys! You hold my heart! I love you all so much! Thanks for such a sweet Valentine's Day filled with love!

Adorable!

Cooking on the Bright Side

I am so excited to let you know that my sister has joined (or rejoined) the blogging world. She once had a personal blog, but that was a while back! But it's her blog theme that I'm even more excited about!

Mary is a foodie! Really, she's an amazing chef! I think she needs to quit her day job, go to culinary school (like she even needs to) and become our city's next famous chef!! I will admit that some of her recipes involve more time than I am capable of giving a recipe at this point in time---with 3 little kiddos running around and demanding my attention. I imagine, that some of you who read my blog, are in the same situation. HOWEVER, she is awesome, and not all of her recipes take that long. And, here's one of her biggest bonuses. . .she can turn any recipe into something "light"! Chef Mary can fool me anytime into thinking I'm eating something not necessarily as healthy as it could be! Not all of her meals are on the light side, but I'm sure she'll be sharing plenty that are. Basically what I'm saying is, she will, 100%, have something for you to try and LOVE!!

She's just getting started, but you should check out her new blog and add her to your reader. It's time for you to be Cooking on the Bright Side! Stop by and say hi!

making progress

Let's pretend it's not already February, shall we? Okay, so since it's only January, I'm feeling a little better. Wait, what? I can't pretend with time? Darn it!

Okay, so it's February, and it's already a week into February. And, no, our house is still not listed yet. We first met with our realtors on Dec. 31st. We thought a month to declutter and organize was plenty of time to get a house ready to put on the market. It might have been until travel, sickness and just a whole bunch of life happened! We've made progress though and my sweet friends have pitched in and helped out! My friend, Jennifer, came over one night while Chad was out of town and helped me completely revamp my pantry. 3 trash bags and a donation bag later, and you've never seen a pantry so amazing!! It's incredible! I know where everything is and there is room now for what used to be on top of our fridge! Anytime over the past week that I've felt stressed, I've just gone and opened our pantry door and realized that if this pantry was able to be clean and organized, then anything can be done!! It was quite an accomplishment--thank you, Jennifer!!! And, my friend, Candace, took time out of her day, when her kiddos were at school, to come stage our house! How fun! She completely rearranged our den and gave me hundreds of other suggestions or tips that buyers like/don't like and left me with a list to tackle! Chad and I worked this weekend to make a major dent in the process, and I'm quite pleased! Candace, you are awesome, and we are super thankful! You need to start your own business!!

So, if you followed all of that, we're so close! Although this growing baby is wearing me out, the Lord has given me just enough energy to "nest" and keep forging ahead! We're hoping for a listing date of sometime next week! Yippppeeee!! The clock is ticking!!
