30 seconds
Sometimes I feel like I have no time at all. Or, I feel lazy and put off doing little things until later. It seems that "later" though, is never a good time to do anything! It hit me the other day, that if I could spend 30 seconds here or there, I might actually save time and/or de-clutter by doing these things right away!
So, I came up with 11 different 30 second activities I've done over the past couple of days that are actually saving me time later on, or that don't take nearly as much time as I have told myself they do.
--walk something to the mailbox (instead of letting it sit in my purse to drop off at a post office for 2 weeks, which in turn, makes it late)
--refill my dog's treat container (so I can throw away the box of treats that I keep reaching into, that sits right beside her container--thus saving time and clearing out junk)
--water my 2 house plants
--change the batteries in my weather calendar (so it will work, and I will know what to expect for the day)
--replace the toilet paper in a bathroom (so we will stop needing to use the other bathroom that does have paper)
--file bills (so we have a clutter free desk and I feel relaxed when I'm in our office)
--fill a small dish with hot, soapy water and put my rings in it to soak (so I can enjoy the sparkle of the diamonds I wear)
--walk the trash 10 feet further to our trash can (instead of letting it sit in our garage until trash day, so we can actually manuever through our garage)
--combine 1/2 c. oil, 1/2 c. of cider vinegar, 1 Tbsp. of brown sugar and 1 package of taco seasoning (and let our chicken marinate, to later cook in the skillet for Baja Chicken salad)
--clean out the dryer lint
--hang up an item of clothing (that has been draped over our tub for days because I've been too lazy, all in the name of de-cluttering)
Do you have any 30-second time savers??

"dandelion" but definitely not green
This morning we all woke up ready to wear green for St. Patrick's Day. I was raised in a family that was BIG time into pinching each other if you weren't wearing green, so I've made sure to carry on the tradition in our house. Luke went to bed last night so excited about St. Patrick's Day, wondering if he was getting a special breakfast--thinking it was a HUGE holiday, because I've made such a big deal about wearing green (and we are going to a "green" picnic with some friends to celebrate)! I had the perfect outfit for Charlie with green pants, one that he's been wearing every other day since Christmas, because it's so darn cute and SUPER soft, but it has a white shirt and well, here's what happened. . .
As I go to get it out of the dryer this morning, I find that nothing in the dryer is its original color. Everything is a nice (horrible, dingy) shade of dandelion. Yes, that's right, not yellow or orange, but my current least favorite Crayola color of "dandelion." All. Over. My. Boys. Clothes!!!! I was horrified! I had no idea that a crayon made its way into our wash last night and around 11:15, when I transfered the clothes from the wash to the dryer, I was a little tired, and again unknowing, and threw everything in, starting the dryer and thus sealing our boys clothes fate. That is---unless any of you have any miracle solutions of removing crayon from already dried clothes??? HELP!!!!!!!!! I probably should be mad at Luke for putting a crayon in his pocket, or ME for not looking at the wet clothes before I dried them, but instead, I'm just furious with Crayola! Sometimes when people get mad, they say they see the color red---I think I will be seeing "dandelion" all day long!!

My favorite Charlie shirt---I rolled up the bottom, so you could see the difference in color--YUCK!!

family resemblances and a vote!
So lately, people have been telling me more and more who each of our boys look like, Chad or me. I won't tell you what many people think because we want your vote! I will say that random people (think people we run into at Target, etc) have a different opinion than people who know us and see us relatively often. So I compiled a couple of pictures, and sadly had to go back to October and November for some decent family shots. See what you think about these two. . .which boy looks like which parent?
Maybe these will help too. . .
I'll be sure to let you know what the majority of people think. But do tell us your thoughts! Oh and we'd like you to make one more comparison. . .
it might take you a little while to come up with a thought. . .
but see what you think of this picture and tell us. . .
who you think our 3rd (and final??) boy or girl will look like!!!!! If this picture is too hard to tell, you'll have to wait until September 29th or so to make a better guess!!!!!

Twas the Night of the Oscars
By now, you probably all know what I will be doing tonight! The one night of the year I am glued to the tv ALL night (post kids--prior to kids, I was glued ALL day and ALL night) is for some serious stuff, people--the Academy Awards!!
And because Ostcar night is truly one of my faves, my sweet darling sister (who knows me better than most, and has more creative juices flowing than I'll ever have) wrote this poem for/about little ol' me! I was laughing too hard and so impressed that I had to share it with you. Thank you, Mary, I feel so honored!! So, as I'm getting close to preparing to splurge with pizza, coke and popcorn, I leave you with this. . .
Twas the Night of the Oscars---by Mary Buchas, MY sister
Twas the night of the Oscars, and all through the house
My biffer was squealing like a freakish little mouse
The DVR was set - for a little longer - with care
In hopes that Tom and Hugh would be there.
The boys were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of Bun Bun and Froggie danced in their heads.
And Meryl in her Dolce, and Biffer in her jammies
Were ready for the show - so much better than the Grammies!
When out on the red carpet there arose such a clatter
Biffer leapt from the couch, but her coke did not splatter!
The paparazzis' cameras clicked and they flashed
Which star was that arriving totally smashed?
The moon on the breast of Penelope Cruz
Had men saying "Wowzers, those things are huge!"
When, what to Biffer's nose should detect
Popcorn with lemon pepper - what else did you expect?!
Then the award show began, with Alec and Steve
Who knows what these two would have up their sleeve!
Who would get these naked golden dudes of eternal fame?
More celebrities came out, and called the winners by name!
"Now Sandra! Now Mo'nique! Now Jeff for Crazy Heart!"
"Now James! Now Avatar! Now Christopher for your supporting part!"
So up to the stage the celebrities flew
With their awards in their hands, and a long speech too.
The weary kind, did begin to yawn
Dear Lord they made this show really long!
But my Biffer yelled, "No, nobody is going to bed!"
You see - when it comes to the Oscars - she's a little crazy in the head...
She sprang up on the couch, and gave a Avatar a cheer
I mean, it was THE BEST movie she's ever seen...er, this year?
She doesn't care if her freakofnaturemovieobsession causes others fright
So she exclaims "Happy Academy Awards America, it's Oscar Night!"

a few reasons why
I love March! Because. . .
--it signals, wait for it. . .the Academy Awards!!! In case you were wondering why I have movie ticket stubs on my header, that's why. And, in case you didn't pay close attention to the aforementioned movie tickets, they are from Avatar! Hubby and I went to see it on New Year's Eve and it was amazing!!! It's nominated for Best Picture and it has my vote!! We saw others, Up in the Air, The Education, etc, but this one blew me away in so many ways!!
--I can now devour the Girl Scout cookies that were just delivered!
--it's my birthday month!
--Spring is on its way (and we really need to get outside)!
--March Madness!
--Spring Break!
Well, I guess I'm still a fall/winter girl, but I'm trying to find the positive in winter coming to an end. What about you?
