Father's Day weekend---it's never too late!

I'm a little late in posting this, but I didn't want to let June disappear without a quick post on the special man in our lives and Father's Day weekend!

As Father's Day was approaching, Luke would tell me every morning, "I can't wait until Sunday to celebrate Daddy!" Too cute! He was also determined to give his daddy something with sea creatures on it. He loves the "whale store" (aka Vineyard Vines), so we did a little shopping for Chad there. After perusing all of the store, multiple times (our sales guy finally left us alone because we were taking so long) Luke picked out a shirt for Chad that matched one of Luke's. Now they can be twins!! :)
We spent a lot of Father's Day weekend watching golf (The U.S. Open was on), but we also made it to the sprinkler park, enjoyed a nice Father's Day brunch after church and chilled by the pool with my Dad too!

Luke and Charlie are SO incredibly lucky to have Chad as their daddy. It makes me melt to watch Chad and the boys play together. All the giggles, all the love, and all the learning that takes place when all 3 of my boys are together is priceless. He is an amazing dad and husband and Luke, Charlie and I are very thankful the Lord gave him to us!! We love you so much, Honey!!

Daddy and his boys!

Luke entranced in golf--his favorite player is Phil--good pick Lukey!

the little redbox

Have you heard of Redbox? If you frequent Walgreens (or Wal-Mart, which I do not) you may have seen a red box that resembles a vending machine. It actually is a vending machine, only it lets you rent movies! Redbox is the newest competitor of Blockbuster and Netflix and after using it for the first time last night, I can see why! Here's the scoop. . .

1)Start using Redbox and you will save for your children's college tuition faster! Okay, slightly exaggerating here, but it's only one dollar to rent a movie--including new releases--which we know is a LOT cheaper than Blockbuster! Yes, you do have to return the movie by 9pm the next night, but that's easy to plan for.

2)You can view the locations of Redbox and the movies they have here or you can just wing it and make your choice at the Redbox. You can then pull up to the machine, hop out and in 1 minute or less, have the movie of your choice in your hands.

3)Be prepared, you cannot use cash. We've guessed this is because they will need a way to track you down if you don't return a movie. Not a big deal for us.

4)Sure, they don't have the same number of movies that Blockbuster has, but if you don't go to the movie theater every weekend (and how many of us do with little kiddos?), then you are bound to have not seen a lot of these movies. You are in luck!

5)They are located (at least in our area) just outside of Walgreens. You can run inside and get your movie candy, then your movie and you are good to go for a movie night at home!! Fun!

Let me know your thoughts when you check it out!

If Lukey ruled the world. . .

--everyone would live on boats. You'd get to choose between a pirate ship, a speed boat, a house boat, or a cruise ship. (I know what I would choose.)

--the national pasttime would be performing the Superman glide (a previously mentioned swim move he has learned).

--"chat time" would be insituted before bedtime. It actually has already been institued in our house, but everyone would have a chat time if Luke ruled the world.

--he'd make everyone learn the Bun-Bun (his bunny lovie) language, which includes words and noises like "eety-beety" and "hmm, hmm, hmm."

--there would be cereal bars for breakfast everyday.

--he'd do away with nap time altogether!

--every prayer said MUST include thanking the Lord for sea creatures and bugs.

--and finally, he'd make sure we had magical people who appeared in our home to do laundry, cook, clean, mow, etc., so that we'd never ever have to stop playing!!

If Charlie ruled the world. . .

--he'd have access to every phone he could get his hands on and NO ONE would ever take them away from him. He'd be allowed to dial numbers at will and would frequently put the phone up to his ear to hear the lady in the phone say "If you'd like to make a call . . ."

--the national pasttime would be to drop things, say "uh oh" and gauge people's reactions.

--there would be grilled ham and cheese sandwiches and fruit (preferably banana) for every meal.

--he would also make sure there are rocks all over the ground for the in between meal snacks!

--there would be plenty of bug spray around, so he wouldn't look like a red puff ball everytime a mosquito bit him!

--the Little Einsteins theme song (or really any music for that matter) would play all day long.

--he'd put going to Target on his to do list----just to see the Target red balls (sound familiar??)!

--there would be paci's and Froggy in reach at all times.

--and finally, he would make sure that everyone knew how to do the "Aaahchooo" and head toss to make him laugh hysterically on the spot!!

swimming, Superman and Jesus

My boys are loving the pool life!! Well, really just Luke. Charlie only tolerates being in the raft for 15 minutes or so. This summer (yes, I know it's not technically summer yet) is turning out to be a little different than last summer. Last year, when I took the boys swimming, Charlie hung out in his car seat (he was only 2-3 months old), while Luke and I played in the pool. This year, Charlie can no longer be contained in a car seat, so the tube is the only way I can manage 2 boys in the pool!

Lukey took swimming lessons a couple of weeks ago and is IN LOVE with swimming. I promise that he asks to go swimming everyday before only being out of bed for 5 minutes!! He has NO fear in the pool and I have in turn absorbed all of his fear because of his lack of fear! Although he can't really swim yet----only for short distances, he still is quite the fish! He's loving to practice everything he learned in his lessons--especially the Superman glide. Now, his favorite part of swimming is the "dive" (aka the belly flop) to Chad or myself, followed by the Superman glide. Because of the name of this stunt, he has inquired all about Superman. We saw a picture of him in the bookstore the other day and I proceeded to tell Luke things about Superman. Today, while driving, Luke asked me where Superman was. I asked him what he meant. He said he was wondering why we couldn't see him flying around!! I guess, in my description of Superman the other day at the bookstore, I left out the fact that Superman was not real. I had to explain he's like the Little Einsteins. I think it sunk in, but he said he really likes Superman because he helps people---which in turn led us to a profound conversation about the Lord!! Who knew?? One minute it's Superman, the next, we're diving (pardon the pun) into Jesus! Whatever it takes to get there, right?

Flying in mid-air, this is Luke's dive or belly flop!

Floating cutie pie!
