I have now officially been blogging for a year! To mark this anniversary, I decided to change the layout of my blog. I was getting bored looking at it, so I thought you might be too! However, since I'm in a terribly indecisive state of mind and I don't really just love change, I may decide to scrap this and go back to my old ways. Let me know your thoughts on the new format!
I have absolutely loved posting family updates, pictures and random thoughts. I've also enjoyed your comments and feedback. It's definitely been a fun year of keeping updated with friends and family out of state and seeing friends and family in Memphis join the blogging world too! I'm looking forward to more exciting Jackson Family Adventures and I hope, if you haven't already started blogging, that you give it a try!

baby update
Just a little baby update. . .
I am 34 weeks pregnant today! I feel great and I'm only now just starting to feel a little tired, but that might be because we have been staying up way too late lately--reading, or watching the Oscars, like we did last night! I had my latest dr. appt. last week and all seems to be going well. My dr. thinks that little Charlie is small, but healthy. That's super as far as I'm concerned. As long as he's healthy, the smaller the baby I have to push out, the better! I do recall him saying something similar to me about Luke at this point, and he was a pound off--on the heavier side!
Little Charlie is moving up a storm! I can feel him stretch and kick and I love it! He did wake me up in the middle of the night recently--moving like crazy--not so fun. Hopefully we'll be able to get his wake/sleep times on track once the little man is born! We're still thinking beginning of April (the 7th is our due date). I have no reason to think he will be any earlier since Luke was so cozy inside. I'm also thinking of the tons of things we need to get done before baby comes! Chad seems to still think little Charlie could arrive early---could be wishful thinking, OR it could be him trying to mentally prepare himself for what's in store with a newborn again!
Luke now includes Baby Charlie in his prayers and conversations. He asks to pray for little Charlie at night (absolutely heartwarming)! He's also anxious to have Baby Charlie play with the trains with him. We've explained that Charlie might not be big enough to play right away, but that when he's bigger he will love to play with Luke. Some days Luke seems okay with that answer and some days he's a little distraught. I can't wait to see the two boys together!

Just the three of us
Last week, Chad came up with a brilliant and spontaneous plan--to go to Destin for Valentine's weekend! So, we made arrangements for our doggy and headed out of town! What a special weekend God had in store for us! It was the last vacation we will take just the three of us (before our new bundle of joy arrives) and we soaked up some Mommy, Daddy and Lukey time. It was wonderful!!
Luke loved the beach--he's been several times before, but had a blast again! The first day we took a long walk down the beach and he enjoyed running in the sand, watching the seagulls and finding seashells. He kept telling us he wanted to put the seashells in a bucket. I kept wondering where that thought came from, and then remembered he has a Dora book that talks about finding seashells with Boots and putting them in buckets. The next day, we had a bucket for him to do just that! We also brought some trucks down from the condo and he enjoyed pushing the sand with his bulldozer and dumping sand into and out of his dumptruck (he's such a boy)!
We truly had a fabulous time! We were able to just lounge around--something I'm sure we won't be able to do soon. Chad was SO sweet and let me just take my time getting up (one of my favorite things to do is lay in bed for a while after waking up). The weather was great and it wasn't crowded, compared to our usual summer trips, so we decided that Florida in February might just become a Jackson family tradition! We read some books, ate yummy food, played with toys, enjoyed our time together and God's awesome creation! One of my favorite comments from Luke was about the ocean. He asked us, "Does the ocean stop?" We told him "No, God keeps the ocean going all the time!" So, when we walked on the beach we asked Luke, "Who made the ocean and the beach?" He'd answer, "God made the ocean and he keeps it going! It never stops."

Mesmerized by the ocean! Aren't we all??
"Hey Mommy! I found a seashell!"
My adorable boys!
Awww, Mommy gets a kiss!
Chad buried Luke's feet in the sand and Luke loved it!!! Finding his feet was the best part!

Yummy!
One of our new favorite things to do on Saturdays is head to the donut shop! It started with Chad and Luke going a couple of months ago for some Daddy/son bonding while I had a baby shower to attend, but has since become something all three of us look forward to each weekend. Luke asks for the donut shop by name and loves walking up with his daddy to the counter and peering through the glass windows to pick out which donut he wants. It is usually a donut with sprinkles, but this past weekend he picked a special crumb-cake donut and ate it right up!

Here are my boys with their donuts!
Luke is getting ready to dig in!!

We held our breath. . .
We held our breath and prayed really hard that Luke's transition to his new big boy room would go smoothly. . .and so far it has (I'm knocking on wood. . .right now)!! We moved him into his new room last weekend and he loves it! It has been suggested to us by many people (our pediatrician included) to move Luke into his new room a few months before our new little baby gets here, so Luke won't feel kicked out of his old room.
We put the room together in different stages, and actually, it still isn't complete---the walls are bare and we'll be getting a new chair for his room--but other than that we're good. I found some train sheets and bedding from PBK and since Luke loves, I mean LOVES trains, he thinks his bed is so cool. Aunt Mary got him a Thomas the train stuffed pillow to sleep with and Luke thinks he's in heaven! I can't remember his exact words, but they were something like "I can have a train in my bed??" since he's used to only being able to play with the trains in our playroom.
Anyway, one week down and it's been a breeze. The hardest part of the big boy room for Mommy was putting together the stupid bed rail--don't plan on doing that again. . .EVER! I think I did tear up the first night we tucked him in (it's a big step to have your "baby" move to a big boy bed), but it's been so much fun for all of us!

Here'a pic of one side of the room. The other side has a dresser and window, and another wall has a big closet.
